How Self Reflection Is A Step Towards A Happier And More Productive Life

19 May, 2020

When was the last time you ended your work day feeling:

…not stressed?

…got enough done?

…stuck to all your health goals?

If the answer is Um…NEVER. Don’t feel bad. We can survive for years living this way. So many of us focus on working our way up the career ladder, checking off our to-do lists and in a constant cycle of ‘never feeling like we’re doing enough’ – but it doesn’t have to be this way.

The good news is;

You can end the day feeling a sense of accomplishment.

You can end the day energised to do things (other than work) you enjoy.

You can stay focused and motivated to stick to your health goals (like eating healthier, going to the gym and reducing your coffee intake)

So many of us reply on our willpower to get us through the day, we don’t consider that willpower alone isn’t enough. Willpower only thrives when we are energised and after a long day at the office – it runs out. What we need is to learn what works for us to thrive and then keep accountable at taking those actions.

3 things to notice daily:

  1. What energised you?
  2. What’s not working?
  3. What’s one thing you can do to make things even better tomorrow?

Self-reflection helps us to learn what works for us and what doesn’t, it keeps us accountable to take action and do the things we need to do to thrive.

Answering these 3 questions in your journal each day will empower you to take the steps to start thriving instead of just surviving.
