Social media use in the wellness world does get a lot of bad rep, however with the right mindset it can be one of the tools that helps you learn, keep motivated, make new friends and inspire others.
There is no right or wrong way of doing this – you know your own limits, everyone is different. Some love to go straight onto social media first thing in the morning – some find this the worst way to start the day, go with what works for you.
As with everything in our lives it is all about not ‘over doing it’ and creating a healthy balance. If you were to ‘over do it’ with paleo balls – you wouldn’t feel the health benefits of eating natural food, if you ‘over do it’ at work you are left burnt out, if you ‘over do it’ at the gym your body starts to feel drained and fatigued, if you start to ‘over do it’ with social media you end up missing out on day-to-day activities such as quality conversations.
How to use social media to your wellness advantage?
Wellness advantage tip 1
Actively be involved in a social group with like-minded individuals.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people who are going through the same or similar experience as you. It can lead to new friendships, finding a role model or even becoming a role model for someone else. To make the most out of the group do the following:
Wellness advantage tip 2
Using social media to develop a growth mindset.
As we all have access to the lives of athletes, models, celebrities and their stories (and amazing photos) to use it to your advantage, find lessons and inspiration from their successes in order to reach high-levels of achievement in your own life. Unfollow those who do not bring this to your life and find people who do.
Wellness advantage tip 3
Track your milestones.
Using social media is a great confidence booster, especially for those who find it difficult to share their achievements in everyday situations. So many people find inspiration from others posts, such as running a first 5k race, lifting a PB power clean to being on stage to perform. Keeping a track of milestones by sharing your achievements with your social media community is a great way to do this. Likes or no likes, it doesn’t matter as you’ve already achieved so much! Take a break from social media and reward your efforts – you deserve it!
Social media is just one of the tools you can use to help achieve your wellness goals. The more options we have the more likely we are to succeed. Combining social media use, reading books, talking to people who inspire us, having a coach and joining a community group will help you in more ways than you can possible imagine.
